CleanSmoke supports European strategy “From farm to Fork“
It is time for more sustainable food production in Europe. This is probably the insight that the EU has also come to under the influence of the Corona pandemic. At the end of May, the European Commission presented its strategy “From Farm to Fork” for a fair, healthy and environmentally friendly food system. The strategy is part of the European “Green Deal” and aims at the transition to a sustainable food economy. The Green Deal is a comprehensive program of measures to improve living conditions in Europe and marks the roadmap for a sustainable and climate-friendly EU economy overall.
“From Farm to Fork” aims at nothing less than to ensure food security and access to healthy food. It also includes the promotion of sustainable food processing methods. These include, without doubt, the CleanSmoke smoking process. When smoking with CleanSmoke, a stable smoke for the smoking chamber is freshly produced from primary smoke condensate using compressed air. This allows food to be smoked in a way that is both climate- and resource-friendly and with low levels of pollution. Because CleanSmoke is free of soot, tar, ash and reduces contamination with polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) by up to 71% in smoked foods. “Primary smoke products therefore offer decisive advantages for a safer and healthier diet”, says Uwe Vogel, Chairman of the Cleansmoke Coalition (CSC).
CleanSmoke ensures significantly less stress
However, smoking with CleanSmoke also contributes to the EU’s new strategy with other environmental benefits, including proposals to reduce pollution. CleanSmoke easily complies with all air pollutant limits according to the TA Luft (German Clean Air Act), about 2,600 tons of cleaning agents and about 40 tons of chemicals could be saved annually and water consumption could be reduced by more than 800,000 m3 – only in Germany. All this should also have been known to the EU for a long time. It is all the more incomprehensible that the innovative smoking process has not already been declared the standard in Europe. “CleanSmoke has been awarded the title of ‘Best Available Technology’ by the EU. It is therefore the best the consumer can expect,” says Vogel. In the emerging debate on how to achieve the EU targets, the CleanSmoke Coalition will be able to highlight the benefits of pre-cleaned smoke and smoke flavourings.
